What to Expect as a Renter When Your Home is Listed for Sale
Finding out the property you’re renting is being put on the market can come with questions and concerns, especially when it comes to privacy and what to expect during the sale process. Here’s what you need to know and how you can help make the experience as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
You will be contacted by the sales agent to schedule showings
Once the property is listed, the listing agent will typically reach out to you directly to coordinate showings. This doesn't mean your property manager is stepping back, it simply helps to streamline the scheduling process!
You're entitled to reasonable notice
Your lease includes a provision allowing the property to be shown to potential renters or buyers. In most cases, 24 hours' notice is considered reasonable and standard. This ensures you have time to prepare and aren't caught off guard by a last-minute visit!
Showings are a normal part of the process
We understand that showings can be inconvenient, but as a renter, you are required to abide by the lease, as the owner is. If an owner wants the property to be shown, they have a right to do so under the lease agreement, and MoveZen has no say in the matter. However, the goal is to be respectful of your time and space while also giving prospective buyers the opportunity to view the home.
A clean space makes a big difference
While you're not expected to deep clean for every showing, keeping the home tidy can help speed things along. The better the property shows, the more likely it is to attract offers. The quicker the home goes under contract, the fewer showings you'll have to accommodate. Think of it as a short-term inconvenience for a faster return to normal routines.
We're here to support you
We understand that showings can feel intrusive, and we're here to support you throughout the process. If you have concerns about timing or access, please don't hesitate to communicate them with the sales agent and your property manager.
Everyone involved shares the same goal: a smooth sale with as little disruption as possible!
