How Do I Get Details About When a Home Will Be Available for a Self-Showing (and Why I Can’t View It Now)?

Sometimes a home appears online but isn’t ready to view yet, or the showing calendar shows no availability.

Audience: renters who see a home online but can’t yet schedule a showing or self-showing

This is completely normal. Homes may be undergoing preparation, waiting for resident move-out, or not yet eligible for self-showing due to access or safety rules.

Here’s how to know when you’ll be able to view the home and why access might not be available right now.

Quick answer:

A home may not be available to view yet if:

  • It’s marked “Coming Soon”

  • A resident is still living in the home

  • The lockbox hasn’t been installed yet

  • Repairs, cleaning, or inspection are still happening

  • HOA/security rules block early access

  • The showing system is waiting for an updated ready date

  • The property is switching from agent-led showings to self-showing (or vice versa)

Once the home is ready, the system will automatically open showing slots.

How to know when a home will be available:

1. Check the showing link

Most MoveZen homes use ShowMojo and the showing link may show details on why it's not available for immediate showing

2. Look for “Coming Soon” on the listing

A Coming Soon tag means:

  • The home is not yet available to tour

  • Showing times will appear automatically once preparations are complete

  • Updates may occur daily

3. Understand the difference between self-showing and agent showings

A home will only allow self-showings if:

  • It is vacant

  • A digital lockbox can be installed

  • HOA rules allow it

  • Access areas are safe and secure

If not, the home may require agent-led showings only — and availability may be more limited.

4. Check back within 24–48 hours

Showing availability can change very quickly due to:

  • Resident move-out

  • Lockbox installation

  • Cleaning/repairs finishing early

  • Owner approval for showings

  • Updated ready dates

Homes often shift from “unavailable” to “ready to view” within a day or two.

Why you can’t view the home right now

Many renters assume something is wrong when they can’t schedule yet, but usually it’s one of these reasons:

The home is still occupied

Residents deserve privacy and safety; early access is not allowed.

Access isn’t safe or ready

Showings can’t occur if:

  • Flooring is mid-repair

  • Appliances are being replaced

  • Cleaning crews are onsite

  • Debris, tools, or hazards are present

Lockbox not yet installed

Self-showing requires a digital lockbox, which may not be on the door yet.

HOA or community rules restrict access

Some neighborhoods require controlled entry or agent-only tours.

The home was just listed

The showing system may need a few hours to sync.

FAQs

Why does the listing appear active if I can’t view it yet?
Listings go live early so renters know the home is coming. Showings start once it’s fully ready.

Can I apply before touring?
You can, but we recommend viewing first unless you’re 100% certain.

Why does the home say “Coming Soon” for several days?
It may be completing cleaning, repairs, inspections, or move-out turnover.

Why did the showing calendar briefly show times and then remove them?
The property’s readiness changed — often due to a repair or scheduling update.
